We finally found a patch of Round-leaved Sundews (Drosera rotundifolia) within the confines of the state of Montana. These little carnivorous plants have a host of adaptions to nitrogen-poor environments like this particular fen with its sphagnum moss and liverworts. #sundew #botany #montana

Broke out the "trusty" old GoPro to video this little fella, the pumpkinseed. The pumpkinseed is Montana's most widespread small sunfish. They were introduced to #Montana in 1910 when it was found in the sloughs near Kalispell. Now they are found almost statewide in clear ponds with abundant aquatic vegetation.
